| In Tanzania, the
Tarangire National Park is home of the few remaining baobob trees.
Surprisingly these trees are succulents and store water in their
"bark" during the dry season, which was when I was there this
summer. Elephants, if far from other water sources, take full advantage of
the baobobs' moisture-laden trunks, often causing much destruction. The
ancient baobobs can be quite huge, making the adult elephants appear
diminutive from a distance! |
