| While at Sunnyside (home
of Washington Irving) I found this fallen
apple tree by the lilac hedge, on the side of a steep hill. The way
the trunk had toppled over, it was hard to believe that it was blooming
away as if it were standing as tall as it's neighboring trees. The
sunlight dappled the twisty trunk, and the best part of painting this was
being able to smell the sweet lilacs the whole afternoon! |
