As of 2021, the south end of Gowanus remains full of commercial and industrial buildings, and the arching overpass of the Brooklyn Queens Expressway adds to the sense of raw grittiness. I thought of calling this painting “Stop, Stop, Stop” because the word appears three times, but it didn’t seem descriptive enough!
