Late Afternoon on 7th Avenue (Park Slope) - SOLD

Oil on canvas
16” x 20”
$1750

Somehow after all these years, I had never painted a view of 7th Avenue, even though it is in the heart of historic brownstone Brooklyn and it has classic architectural elements, such as the church steeple, interesting corner buildings, and colorful storefronts. One late afternoon (2022) I was running an errand and this viewpoint suddenly became a painting in my mind’s eye. Finding the right tonal values in the shadowed area, which makes up a big portion of the canvas, was a challenge (not to mention all those darned parked cars!).
