Brownstone with Grecian Planters
Oil on canvas on archival panel
20” x 16”
$1750
Earlier in the spring, I had painted a small oil study of this brownstone stoop on-site with my portable easel. I walk by this building on my way to my studio, but I only noticed it one day when the sun hit it this particular way. I liked the idea of it, especially the way light was reflected in the shadows of the white Grecian urns (and those startling yellow flowers were irresistible). I just had to make a larger, studio version of it! When I went back to take a few reference photos, the window shade was open and it was slightly later, so there were also more interesting shadows and a surprising amount of sky blue reflected in the windows that added sparks of color.
