Waterlilies with Forked Tree Branch Reflection, Autumn
Oil on canvas
12" x 24"
$1520
This painting depicts a waterlily plant with a tree branch reflected in the Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s Lily Pond. The tree branch has a v-shaped fork, and creates sort of a triangular background shape. This is an autumn, late afternoon view when the light is low. The leaves have become striated with purplish red striping and the reflected tree is still very leafy. Compare this to its sister painting showing how the same plant and tree looks in the spring (albeit in another year) and earlier in the day.
