Morning Tidal Rush
Oil on linen
30"x 40"
$5700
This is a classic Maine coastal scene, in this case the harbor of Vinalhaven which has the largest lobstering fleet in the US. I painted the sky with a palette knife to accentuate the dramatic morning hues with thick impasto layers of oil paint. Every time the tide went in or out, it dramatically rushed through a narrow channel by the motel where I spent a few days. It was a challenge to capture the movement of water and the reflections of the dawn. Painted in 2006.
