If you look skyward while walking on the northwestern corner of Union Square in Manhattan, you will see this view. Usually, with throngs of people there one needs to focus on street level activity. But one fine day, I glanced up and saw this whole other “neighborhood” on the roofs of the buildings. They seemed to be characters on a stage living an alternate life. Clearly, it was too busy to paint there and this is based on some reference photos and I painted this in my studio in summer of 2016.
