As Featured in "Collector Profile" in Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine

What an incredible (an extremely pleasant) surprise to learn that one of my collectors, Jack Esterson (and husband Richard Montelione) was featured in the April 2025 issue of Fine Art Collector, AND, that my name and one of my paintings was mentioned!

The Spring issue annually “highlights real-world collectors of contemporary realist art” with the objective of promoting role models. As Editor Peter Trippi states, “The folks highlighted in this issue buy art with their eyes and hearts, living with and enjoying it, sometimes enhancing their lives further by getting to know the artists who made it.” He goes on to explain that “The hardest step in this issue’s preparation is asking the collectors to choose just two artworks to illustrate in their profiles.”

Somehow, that criteria seems to have been sidestepped for this collector, but I was thrilled to have been singled out (along with Robert Goldstrum and Doug Madill) from almost a dozen other artists in his collection.

Jack and Richard of Brooklyn have been collecting art for almost 40 years, starting with the many artists in nearby Brooklyn neighborhoods. Their home is filled with a wide range of artwork, but figurative work dominates their brownstone’s garden level. “Our collection is sprawling; it’s everywhere, but looking back,” Esterson concludes, “Rich and I see a through-line in it - an emotional connection to aducacious color and dynamic movement. There’s also a virtuosity that resonates deeply for both of us.”
